Advanced Features

Since May 20th 2005, the service is extended with a few advanced and more interactive features.

These advanced features require that you have been registered to the service and properly activated the features from your profile page. Advanced features in the indicators and in the service cannot be used without an user account.

New Indicator URLs

If you want to use the advanced features that are linked to your user profile, you must use following indicator URL's instead of standard URL (based on VATSIM ID).

http://online.vatsimindicators.net/x/<your username>.png (to show your default indicator, read more below)

Activating and Defining Advanced Features

Log in to the service and go to My Profile and then select "Advanced User Profile" from the left hand side bar. First time you will be asked if you want to enable the advanced features. Check the checkbox and save settings. After that you will be able to enter more detailed settings to the system. The advanced features are explained below.

If you have not entered your VATSIM ID to the service upon registration, you must do it before you may enable the advanced features.

Default Indicators

As a registered user, you can add an default indicator to your user account. After that, you can change the indicator everywhere just by changing a new indicator number at your profile.

Enter the ID number of your default indicator to the page. The ID number is not required to be your own indicator, it can be any indicator provided via the service. Normal ACL rules apply.

After you have saved the default indicator, you can add following indicator link to your forum signatures etc where do you use the indicator:
http://online.vatsimindicators.net/x/<your username>.png

You still can use the standard indicator URL (with your VATSIM ID) where it's practical.

Now Playing

If you have proper plugins in your Winamp or another mp3/playing software, you may send your currently playing song to the system and show it to the fellow flightsimmers in a now-playing enabled indicator!
